back to the show we didn't finish yesterday the Gem Mall or Gem Maul as Lou Zeldis my new favourite jeweler calls it, I discoverd his jewelry yesterday here at the G & LW show, he is an American who lives a simple life in Bali and makes the most natural and to me, very inspiring jewelry, I did blow my budget and 'invest' in a ring and necklace of his, as inspiration pieces for my own work, so today we are off to Gem Maul tent 2 and we park in a different place and make our way there through the Tucson Electric Park, a huge RV park on the outskirts of town near I- 10, and low and behold it is full of rockhounds and dealers living in RVs, and selling from the front of their RVs, they all seem to have heavily tanned skin, over 50 years of age, and a laid back attitude, and a lot of very laid back dogs. There was 50 gallon drums of fossilised dinosaur bones for sale at $20 a pound, a guy from Australia with opals and a blow up kangaroo in a deck chair, and a lot of people with huge hand tools for breaking the thousands of geodes they were selling, it has a sleepy you just missed a carnival feel to it, very interesting.
