late June....

and it's time to harvest the wheat in the field at the end of our yard, in the little over ten years we have lived here it's the first time we have ever had wheat, it's usually soy beans or corn, the field is farmed by Menonite farmers, who are suprisingly non ecologically minded, they use more chemicals than I care to think about, and farm faster than most factories, within twenty four hours they had harvested, round bailed the straw, and reseeded with the next crop. Everyone works, I saw the big tractor picking up the round bales with the big spike on the front being driven by a bare foot boy around eight years old, and he drove like he was in first place at the Daytona 500 with or without the bale on!
